Albany Tech Announces GOAL Winner at Rotary Today

Albany Technical College presented the four Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL) finalists to the Rotary Club today, February 24, 2011, at Noon, at Doublegate Country Club. After presentation of the four, the winner was presented by Judy Randall, Albany Area Chamber of Commerce Board Chairman. Patrick Jenkins, Environmental Horticulture student at Albany Tech, was named as the winner.

Jenkins was picked by a Chamber of Commerce panel in a judging held at the campus last week. He, along with one winner from each technical college in the state, will have an opportunity to go on to Atlanta to compete at the State GOAL competition on May 25-26, 2011. The state winner will be the official spokesperson for technical education in Georgia for 2011.

“I am honored to be chosen and plan to bring home the state award to Albany Tech,” said Jenkins.

The four finalists presented today included: Brandon Bass (Radiologic Technology); Chancy Davis (Marketing Management); Patrick Jenkins (Environmental Horticulture); and Rodriquez Thomas (Early Childhood Care and Education).

The GOAL program recognizes exceptional technical college students from across the state for their academic excellence and personal achievement. The program also spotlights the important role of technical training in our economy.
