Adult Education Program General Information

No matter where you’re starting from, Albany Tech can help you improve your skills and accomplish your educational goals.

The Adult Education Program is designed for adults who need assistance with basic academic skills. We offer flexible program hours to work with your busy schedule! In addition to adult basic education and GED® Test preparation, the Adult Education Program offers workplace literacy programs, English Literacy (ELP), family literacy, job readiness and life skills classes.

In order to participate in the Adult Education program, individuals are required to attend Orientation. Day and evening orientation sessions are available. During Orientation, individuals will be given the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) in Reading, Mathematics, and Language. These test provides the grade equivalent scores for instruction and/or to recommend additional testing that is required to qualify students to take the GED Test. Orientation is required in order to attend any GED® Test preparation class or lab. A valid state photo ID is required for all orientation participants. Acceptable forms of identification include a driver’s license from any state, a learner’s permit, a state ID, a passport or military ID. You may call 229.430.1620 or click HERE for orientation dates and times.

Individuals sixteen and seventeen years of age must complete the Underage Youth application, and bring a parent or guardian for the first thirty minutes of Orientation. This application requires an Official Withdrawal from the last school attended or the Affidavit for Home School Students (The date of withdrawal must be less than one year old).
