Cooper Tire employees turn to Albany Tech for training Enrollment numbers continue to climb as lay-offs begin

March 31, 2009 – Albany Technical College should set an enrollment record this Spring Quarter, due in part to a growing number of Cooper Tire employees attending the college. Nearly 100 Cooper Tire employees have applied at Albany Tech as they face the closure of the Albany tire plant. Thirty-six employees are enrolled for Spring Quarter which began March 26th.  READ MORE!

Albany Tech /Albany State to host Partnership Day April 1st

March 25, 2009 - Albany Technical College and Albany State will host a Partnership Day on Wednesday, April 1st at 2:00pm at Albany Technical College’s Kirkland Center. Please see attached flyer. Albany State University recently hired a liaison, Vincent Andrews, to be housed at Albany Technical College to help students as they transition from associate degree to bachelor degree programs. Three Albany Tech Titans chosen for GJCAA All-Star Team

March 12, 2009 – Three members of the Albany Technical College Titans basketball team were chosen to play in the 2nd Annual Florida vs. Georgia All-Star Showcase in Daytona Beach, Florida on Saturday, March 14, 2009. DeMarcus Blunt, Truett O’Neal and Marcus Jackson will represent the Titans on the twelve member team comprised of players from the Georgia Junior College Athletic Association (GJCAA). READ MORE!

ΔEX students honored at Albany Tech

March 11, 2009 – Four Albany Technical College students placed in the state Delta Epsilon Chi competition held in January. ΔEX is an international organization, affiliated with DECA, for college students preparing for careers in business-related areas such as marketing, management and entrepreneurship. Chiquita Brown and Thomas John both earned First Place in the Business Ethics category. Brandon Pinto won third place in the Retail Management category. Bryant Johnson won third place in the Financial Services competition. All four advance to the national ΔEX competition which will be held in California later this spring.  READ MORE!

Albany Tech students win big at Phi Beta Lambda South District Conference

March 11, 2009 – Six Albany Tech students placed in various events at the Phi Beta Lambda South District Conference hosted by Albany Tech on Friday, February 20, 2009. Phi Beta Lambda, or PBL, is the post-secondary division of Future Business Leaders of America. The educational association is made up of 250,000 students nationwide. Emerson Electrical Foundation donates $500 Scholarship to Albany Tech

March 10, 2009 – On March 6, 2009, the Albany Tech Foundation accepted a $500 scholarship donation from the Emerson Electrical Foundation. The Emerson Electrical Foundation is made up of about a dozen former Albany Tech students and faculty members who studied electrical systems under former instructor Willie Emerson.  READ MORE!
