Ken BevelAlbany, Georgia – Albany Technical College will hold its annual Memorial Day Program on Wednesday, May 23, 2018, beginning at 10 a.m., in the Kirkland Conference Center. Keynote speaker for the ceremony will be Kenneth Bevel, Pastor of Membership and Local Missions at Sherwood Baptist Church.

Bevel is a native of Jacksonville, Florida, and has been a member of Sherwood Baptist Church since February 2007. After 20 years of active service in the United States Marine Corps, Ken retired to serve in the ministry.

Bevel is a graduate of the University of Memphis with a bachelor’s of science in computer engineering technology and a graduate of the Naval Postgraduate School with a master’s of business administration in logistics management.

In addition to his daily responsibilities as Sherwood, Ken may be recognized from his role as Lieutenant Michael Simmons in the 2008 inspirational movie “Fireproof” and for his role as Nathan Hayes in the 2011 movie “Courageous.”

The ceremony will begin with a welcome from Albany Tech’s President, Dr. Anthony O. Parker, followed by the presentation of colors by the Albany/Dougherty Joint Color Guard, made up of selected officers from local law enforcement agencies.

In 2013, Albany Tech began the tradition of holding both a Memorial Day and Veterans Day Ceremony on the campus to commemorate veterans and allow students, faculty, staff, and the community to recognize and honor those who served our nation.
