Special Guest Speaker: James "Jim" Lacy Dent

James "Jim" Lacy Dent was born on May 9, 1939, in Augusta, Georgia. Jim discovered his love of golf at the early age of 15 and began his career as a caddie, participating in his first Masters. Due to segregation laws, he wasn't allowed to play only serve as a caddie. He caddied at both the Augusta National Golf Club and Augusta Country Club. While pursuing golf, Jim attended Weed Street School, Lucy C. Laney High School, graduating in 1957and matriculated to Paine College.

In 1966, Jim started his professional golf career at the age of 27. In 1970, he played in the Tucson Open and earned a PGA Tour card due to his outstanding play. Jim's best PGA Tour finish was a tie for second in the Walt Disney World Open. He won three consecutive Florida PGA Championships and was a member of the 1990 and 1991 United States DuPont Cup teams. Jim is most notable for his success on the Senior PGA Tour (PGA Tour Champions), winning 12 tournaments between 1989 and 1998. His 14 top-10 finishes during the 1992 season set a new Champions Tour record for most money won in a single season without a victory. Jim also set a Champions Tour record of finishing in the exempt top 31 money-winners for 12 consecutive years. In January 1994, he was inducted into the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame and named to the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame in February 2008.

Although, James "Jim" Lacy Dent retired from professional golf in 2009, his love of the golf continues. You can find him at the Augusta Municipal Golf Course (known as "The Cabbage Patch") alongside another well-known Augustan: the late Jariah "Jerry" Beard, who caddied alongside Jim in their teens.

Jim is the proud father of six children: Charlene, Radiah, James (Jimmy), Jr., Victoria (Queen), and twins Joshua & Joseph, grandfather of eight, and great-grandfather of four.
