What is The Academy of Learning & Performance?

The Academy of Learning & Performance provides an opportunity for individuals to earn a high school and college credential. This will help prepare students for in-demand careers within a safe and positive learning environment that promotes academic achievement through the availability of co-curricular and extra-curricular opportunities to enhance character development.

The Academy of Learning & Performance has two programs that are critical to its mission: Dual Achievement and Career Plus HSE.

  • Dual Achievement Program – Individuals aged 16-21 can take high school and college courses to obtain a high school diploma (awarded by Albany Technical College).
  • Career Plus HSE Program – Individuals aged 21 and over can take high school and college courses to obtain a high school equivalency diploma.

What is the Dual Achievement Program (DAP)

The Dual Achievement Program (established by SB204) offers qualified students a recognized and alternate path to high school graduation. Students choose to simultaneously earn a high school diploma and two (2) technical certificates of credit, a technical diploma, or a college associate degree in a specific career pathway in order to meet high school graduation requirements.

What is Career Plus HSE?

Career Plus HSE offers the flexibility to earn a high school equivalency (GED) without the stress of a high-stakes test. Georgians age 21 and older without a high school diploma can acquire a basic education and high-demand workforce skills at the same time. Complete coursework to become certified in your chosen career path. Embrace the journey. Enjoy the rewards.

  • Dual Achievement serves students that are seeking a different environment away from a traditional high school. If you have a student that has already made the decision to withdraw, the Dual Achievement Program may be a good fit for them.
  • Dual Achievement is ideal for students seeking a new environment to complete their high school course requirements, while earning college credentials to prepare them for in-demand careers.
  • Like Dual Enrollment and Option B, Dual Achievement is low or zero cost to the student. There are multiple funding opportunities available for eligible students to offset the costs of the college portion of the program.
