Albany Technical College Eyes Historic Opportunity to Host GCAA 2024 Final Four

Albany, Georgia – The Albany Technical College (ATC) men's basketball team, the ATC Titans, have been crowned the GCAA Division 1 Men's Basketball regular season champions for the first time in the school's history. This remarkable achievement is a testament to the team's dedication, hard work, and commitment to excellence both on and off the basketball court.

"We are ecstatic to celebrate this unprecedented success in the history of ATC's basketball programs. Our men's team has demonstrated exceptional skill, determination, and spirit to secure the GCAA Division 1 Men's Basketball regular season championship," said Dr. Emmett Griswold, President of Albany Technical College. "I extend congratulations to our players and coaching staff for their remarkable achievements and dedication."

The Titans' men's and women's teams are wrapping up their regular seasons this week. The men will travel to Waycross, GA, to compete against South Georgia State on March 6. Next, the men's and women's teams will play against Southern Crescent Technical College at home on March 9, with games at 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm, respectively. This event will also celebrate Sophomore Day for both teams.

As the postseason approaches, ATC is excited to host the first round of the GCAA playoffs at Albany State University East Campus on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. The men's and women's teams are scheduled to play at 5:30 pm and 7:30 pm, respectively.

A victory in the first round will lead the men's team to host the GCAA 2024 Final Four in Albany, GA, on March 15-16, an opportunity to make history by hosting this prestigious event for the first time. Conversely, a win for the women's team will propel them to compete in the final four at East Georgia State College in Swainsboro, GA.

Ken Williams, Director of Athletics/Student Life at Albany Technical College, emphasized the broader impact of potentially hosting the Final Four: "The prospect of hosting the GCAA 2024 Final Four in Albany is a significant opportunity for both ATC and our local community. This event promises to showcase our athletes' talent and the college's dedication to sports excellence and to significantly benefit the Albany area economically. The influx of visitors would support local businesses, enhance community engagement, and highlight Albany as a vibrant host city."
