Albany Technical College Welcomes Dr. Quianna Lavant in a Pivotal Role

Albany, Georgia – Albany Technical College is proud to announce the hiring of Dr. Quianna Lavant as the new Director of Enrollment. Dr. Lavant is a respected professional with a rich higher education background and a key member of our academic community. Lavant, an Albany native, brings a wealth of experience and passion to her new role, having contributed significantly to various institutions such as Clark Atlanta University, Mercer University, and Florida A&M University.

Dr. Emmett Griswold, President of Albany Technical College, expressed his enthusiasm about Dr. Lavant joining the team: "We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Lavant to Albany Technical College. Her remarkable journey as a first-generation college graduate and her extensive experience in higher education make her an invaluable asset to our college. Dr. Lavant, a proud alumna of Savannah State University, Georgia Southern University, and Clark Atlanta University, where she earned her Doctorate of Higher Education Leadership, profoundly connects with the challenges and triumphs of first-generation college students. Her dissertation, "A Different World: Aiding First-Generation College Students in Their Persistence," highlights her commitment to this cause.

Dr. Lavant expressed her excitement about the new role, saying, "Joining Albany Technical College is a significant milestone in my career. As someone who has navigated the challenges of being a first-generation college student, I am passionate about creating pathways for success for students from all walks of life. I am eager to contribute to the college's vibrant community and help foster an environment where every student has access to the resources and support they need to thrive. I am truly excited to be part of a team that values mentorship, community engagement, and partnership in education."

Dr. Lavant's impressive credentials include being a former TEDx Savannah Speaker and Executive Producer of TEDx Chandlers Creek, where her topic, "Bridging the Gap Between Self-doubt and Confidence: Educators Can Make a Difference," resonated with many. Her belief that every student deserves a champion, an advocate, and adequate resources will be a guiding principle in her new role at Albany Technical College.
