Dr. Anthony O. Parker Annual Golf Tournament Welcomes Jim Dent and Celebrates the Legacy of Dr. Parker
Albany, GA - River Pointe Golf Club will be busy with excitement as the Annual Dr. Anthony O. Parker Golf Tournament tees off Tuesday, September 26th. Set to honor the memory of Dr. Parker, the past president of Albany Technical College, the Albany Tech Foundation event not only offers premier golfing but also celebrates Dr. Parker’s profound impact on Albany Technical College.
Michelle Williams, Executive Director of Institutional Advancement, expressed her excitement, stating, “Dr. Parker’s dedication to Albany Technical College was unparalleled, and it is our honor to keep his legacy alive with this tournament. With the presence of Jim Dent, we are not just celebrating golf but also resilience, determination, and history.”
About the Golf Tournament & Reception
The tournament, scheduled for September 26th, will commence with a registration at 7:30 am and a shotgun start at 8:30 am. A key highlight of the event is the esteemed special guest, James "Jim" Lacy Dent, Professional Golfer, member of the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame, Georgia Sports Hall of Fame, and three-time winner of the Florida PGA Championship.
To kick-start the celebration, The Jim Dent Reception will be hosted on September 25th from 6 pm-8 pm at The Flint, 112 Pine Ave, Albany, GA 31701. The reception offers attendees an intimate opportunity to meet and greet with Jim Dent, reminiscing on his incredible journey from a caddie in a segregated Augusta to his esteemed position in the world of golf today.
Participants can also look forward to rewards with prizes for Closest to the Pin on Hole 5 and Longest Drive on Hole 2.

A living legend, Jim Dent's journey is a testament to his unyielding spirit. From his early days as a caddie to a professional golf career, Jim has made an indelible mark in the golfing world. Notably, his 12 wins on the Senior PGA Tour and his multiple records stand as a testament to his unparalleled skills and determination. Though Jim Dent retired from professional golf in 2009, his passion is constant, and this can be seen in his regular appearances at the Augusta Municipal Golf Course, alongside Jariah "Jerry" Beard.
