Job Description & Responsibilities:

The Dougherty County Public Works department is hiring for a Senior Engineering Aide. The purpose of this position is to assist the Project Engineer in conducting land and property surveys, to include construction project layouts and inspections of in progress construction projects. This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences. Essential Tasks Meets with contractors for Local Maintenance & Improvement Grant (LMIG) projects and City utility crews for projects. Prepares daily priority project list and operates survey equipment for all County projects. Conducts property research to determine property owners and property dimensions. Plans work schedules with contractors and County work crews daily. Directs work crews to the correct locations; prepares the work and contract area and provides necessary information to the contractor. Locates utilities and records information in field books for later usage. Performs various administrative duties including completing necessary reports, responding to questions from the public, and typing and filing documents. Performs related work as assigned.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent and specialized training in surveying or closely related field. Two (2) years of engineering or construction related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Supplemental Information Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement. • Performs light to medium work that involves walking or standing virtually all of the time and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or considerable skill, adeptness and speed in the use of the fingers, hands or limbs in tasks involving close tolerances or limits of accuracy. Unavoidable Hazards (Work Environment): Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken. Involves routine and frequent exposure to: Bright/dim light; Dusts and pollen. Extreme heat and/or cold; Wet or humid conditions. Extreme noise levels, Animals/wildlife. Vibration; Fumes and/or noxious odors. Traffic; Moving machinery. Special Certifications And Licenses: Must possess and maintain a valid state commercial driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.

Salary:

$39,188.00 Annually
