Job Description & Responsibilities:

Radiology Technicians are responsible to perform high quality radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures under the supervision of a qualified Physician for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases. The technologist will conduct the procedures according to department protocols and followed established radiation safety guidelines. The technologist provides direct patient care for all ages of patients. The technologist is to provide very good service that is to treat every patient with respect, courtesy and explain the exam to the patient. The technologist must be able to work together with others providing a positive work environment. The technologist is responsible to provide a safe environment for the patients, fellow employees and themselves. RADIATION SAFETY: Follow the established radiation safety guidelines to protect the patient, co-workers and oneself from unnecessary radiation. Maintain knowledge of exposure rates and equipment and the use of safety precautions such as gloves, shields and badges. When performing the exam on the patient, only radiate the area of interest. Shield the patient's gonads region especially children and adults of childbearing age. Limit repeat exposures to the patient, by ensuring the equipment is set up correctly. Maintain quality controls for scanner, power injector and other equipment in accordance with manufacturer and regulatory guidelines. Wear radiation monitoring badges at all times. Wear protective equipment when in the radiation field (fluoroscopic exams and/or holding patients) Protective equipment - Lead aprons, lead gloves, thyroid shield, leaded glasses. Stand behind the protective barrier, when not needed in the radiation field. Limit exposure by either limiting exposure time in the radiation field or increase your distance from the radiation source. Ensure the safety of others during the exam by having them behind the lead barrier or wear radiation protective equipment during an exposure. DOCUMENTATION: Documents and submits required information and data in a timely fashion. Ensures that documentation is tailored to expected readers / users. Uses correct terminology. Conforms to required style and format. Clearly and accurately documents designated processes, policies, products, service offerings, etc. TECHNOLOGY AND EQUIPMENT USE: Demonstrates technical skill in using equipment appropriate for role. Understands equipment operation. Maintains equipment in working order. Troubleshoots equipment problems. Uses technology to increase productivity. Adapts to new technology CARE PROCESSES: Treats patients and families with compassion and implements plan of care. Bases care decisions on plan of care. Monitors and documents patient response. Establishes rapport with clients. Adapts communication style, listens and responds to patient needs. Recognizes age-specific responses to treatment. Provides effective interventions. Respects patients confidentiality and privacy. Supports social, spiritual, and cultural needs of patients and families. Manages difficult or emotional patient situations.

Qualifications:

Qualifications: Vocational Technical Degree in Radiologic Technology (Required). Work Experience: 0 - 1 year Working in a Radiology department in a hospital environment (Preferred). Licenses and Certifications: Required Certifications/Licensures: Certified Radiography (R)(ARRT) ,Basic Life Support(BLS).
