Job Description & Responsibilities:
The Dougherty County Board of Commissioners is sponsoring a Summer Empowerment/Internship Program. This Summer Empowerment/Internship program will provide interns with opportunities to perform entry level tasks with adequate training in various County departments. Essential Tasks: Interns will perform a variety of administrative and operational support tasks, including but not limited to greeting and assisting office visitors, answering phones, performing general office functions using computers, computer software, copiers, scanners, assisting staff with departmental functions and daily operations, and participating in training related to office procedures and equipment usage, etc. There are twenty (20) internship slots available. The Summer Internship Program will offer active engagement from various County departments, including County Police, Finance, Library, Tax & Tag, Registrations & Elections, Disaster Recovery, and Public Works (Parks & Maintenance Divisions), as they welcome interns into their respective domains.
Qualifications:
Prospective participants must be resident of Dougherty County, a 2026 high school graduate, upcoming high school Senior, or currently enrolled in a college, university or Turner Job Corps student. Must be a United States citizen or authorized to work in the United States. Seeking students with an interest in gaining work experience in local government and/or pursuing a degree in: Business Administration, Political Science, Business Management, Public Administration, or a related field. Must have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or better.
