Job Description & Responsibilities:
The Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office/Jail Division is hiring on a continuous basis for Detention Officer. The purpose of this position is to provide complete security throughout the Jail facility and to perform duties in the assigned area of responsibility by enforcing local, state, and federal laws. Responsible for supervision of inmates and completion of administrative tasks associated with the security of inmates. This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalent or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. • Be at least 18 years of age. • Be a United States citizen. • Be a Certified Jailer or eligible for Jailer Certification status in accordance with Georgia State Standards. • Be able to pass: o Credibility assessment test o Medical examination • Provide Compass/Asset scores from Technical College or University. • Possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license. • Submit copies of the following documents to the Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office/Jail at time of application: o Birth Certificate o Social Security Card. o High School Diploma or equivalent o Valid Georgia Driver’s License; and, o DD 214 Military Discharge (if applicable).
