Job Description & Responsibilities:
Analyze historical data, sales trends, and market conditions to develop accurate demand forecasts. Collaborate with sales, production, and procurement teams to align demand forecasts with operational and financial goals. Monitor and adjust forecasts as needed to reflect changes in demand, supply, and lead times. Optimize inventory levels to minimize stockouts and excess inventory. Develop strategies to manage slow-moving and obsolete inventory. Track key inventory metrics and provide recommendations for improvement. Work closely with procurement, warehouse, and transportation teams to ensure timely and efficient material flow. Collaborate on production schedules to align demand with capacity and lead times. Manage and monitor backorders, ensuring prompt resolution of delays. Utilize data analytics to drive insights and continuous improvements in demand planning processes. Create and maintain reports and dashboards to provide visibility into forecast accuracy, inventory health, and supply chain performance. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance demand planning accuracy and supply chain efficiency. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean or Six Sigma projects. Act as the primary liaison between logistics and other departments to ensure demand plans are aligned with overall business objectives. Communicate forecast changes and inventory risks to key stakeholders. Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field. 3+ years of experience in demand planning, inventory management, or logistics. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate large data sets, identify patterns and trends, and provide actionable insights for decision-making. Proficiency in demand planning software such as SAP APO, Oracle Demantra, Kinaxis RapidResponse, or similar platforms for efficient forecasting, planning, and reporting. Deep understanding of ERP/MRP systems, including hands-on experience with system integrations and optimization to streamline planning and inventory management processes. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to use complex formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and data analysis techniques. Experience in data visualization tools (such as Power BI or Tableau) to present findings and KPIs to stakeholders in an easily digestible format. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to clearly articulate insights, challenges, and recommendations to senior leadership and other departments. Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment, handle conflicting priorities, and build productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines, with a proven track record of staying organized and meeting demanding timelines in a fast-paced, constantly evolving supply chain environment. Comprehensive understanding of supply chain best practices, including demand forecasting, inventory optimization, safety stock calculations, and lead-time management. Experience with demand planning tools and forecasting models preferred. Experience in government or defense logistics is a plus preferred. Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
